Transportation services contributed 6.5% to the U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2023. Transportation contributed 0.1 percentage points less to GDP than 2022, but 0.2 percentage points more than Pre-Pandemic 2019. For-hire transportation contributed $935.5 billion or 3.3% to GDP. In-house transportation by non-transportation industries contributed $392.6B or 1.4% to GDP. Household/personal transportation contributed $498.3B or 1.8% to GDP.
